University of Mines and Technology (UMat) Admission Ongoing

It is announced for the information of prospective applicants that application vouchers for admission to undergraduate programmes in the University of Mines and Technology, Tarkwa, for the 2025/2026 academic year are on sale.

The application vouchers for admission (Ghanaians only) can be purchased at the following places:

  1. Post Offices
  2. Ecobank
  3. Cal Bank
  4. GCB Bank
  5. Zenith Bank
  6. Fidelity Bank
  7. Access Bank
  8. UMaT PaY

Mode of Application

  1. Ghanaian Applicants:
  • Upon purchase of a voucher, the Bank or the Post Offices will issue a payment receipt containing a unique serial number with a corresponding PIN.
  • The serial number and the PIN will be used by the applicant as the login details to access the UMaT Online Admission System at www.portal.umat.edu.gh/apply to complete their application.
  1. International Applicants should click on this link to request the login details to apply.

Key Information for International Applicants

Take note of the following

  1. Kindly note that the cost of the application is US$ 100 and it will be added to your first-year fees when you are admitted.
  2. In completing the online form, candidates will be required to upload their recent passport-size photographs and certificates.
  3. A completed online form is not considered until it is finally SUBMITTED.
  4. Applicants are advised to thoroughly check all details entered before they finally submit their online applications.

Print out application summary; attach results slips, certificates, and all other relevant documents. Applicants must scan all the documents – a signed copy of the application form, results slip, certificates, any valid national ID card, and all supporting documents send them to the following email address: admissions@umat.edu.gh

How much is the UMaT admission form?

The price for the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) admission form depends on the program and applicant status. For Ghanaian applicants, the cost is GH¢230 for BSc, GH¢200 for Diploma, and GH¢180 for Certificate programs. For international applicants, the cost is US$100 for BSc, US$85 for Diploma, and US$75 for Certificate programs. 

What is the cut-off grade for UMaT?

UMaT uses the new grading system of WASSCE for the selection of candidates, and in this system, a grade aggregate of 36 is the minimum entry requirement at UMaT.
