University of Education, Winneba (UEW) Admissions

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission to various Full-time, Sandwich, and Distance Undergraduate and Postgraduate academic programmes for the 2026/2027 academic year.

NOTE: Current final year students who are yet to write their final exams may also apply while awaiting their results (Awaiting Results)

Minimum Entry Requirements

Bachelor’s Programmes

WASSCE Holders

  1. Must have at least six (6) WASSCE Credit passes A1-C6, including three (3) Core Subjects: English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science or Social Studies, as well as
  2. Three (3) Electives in relevant subjects with a total aggregate of 36 or better.
  3. Must also satisfy Special Programme requirements for programmes chosen.

SSSCE/ABCE/GBCE Holders

  1. Six passes A-D in all subjects, including English Language and Mathematics; Integrated Science or Social Studies.
  2. At least three (3) of the passes must be relevant to the area of specialisation.

School Certificate/GCE Holders

  1. Five 5 credits at GCE “O” Level, including English Language and Mathematics, as well as
  2. Two 2 “A” Level passes other than General Paper in relevant subjects

Diploma Holders

Must possess a Diploma or Higher National Diploma (HND) from an accredited institution.

Mature Applicants

Applicant should be at least 25 years of age by September with a minimum of GCE/ SSSCE/WASSCE/ DBS or RSA/TVET Certificate. He/She must also have at least 2 years of relevant work experience. Applicants should also pass the General Aptitude Test (GAT) and Subject Area Test (SAT) to be organised by the University.

Second Mature Entrance Examination

General Aptitude Test (GAT) & Subject Area Test (SAT) for all Mature Entry Applicants on Friday, November 7, 2025; Time: 10:00 am & 1:00pm respectively at the following venues:

  1. Winneba – UEW, North Campus
  2. Techiman – UEW Distance Education Study Centre, Tadieso

Diploma Programmes

WASSCE Holders

Applicant must have passed (A1-D7) in three (3) Core Subjects, including English

Language and Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies and A1-C6 in Three (3) Elective Subjects relevant to the programme of interest.

SSSCE/ABCE/GBCE Holders

Applicants must have Credits A-D in Six (6) subjects, comprising THREE (3) Core Subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, and three (3) Elective Subjects relevant to the programme of interest.

Applicant must have Credit passes (A1-D7) in Three (3) Core Subjects comprising English Language and Mathematics, and (A1-C6) in Three (3) Elective Subjects relevant to the programme of interest.

EXCEPT DIPLOMA IN EDUCATION, WHERE AN APPLICANT MUST POSSESS AT LEAST A DIPLOMA OR HND IN A SPECIFIC AREA OF STUDY.
